Mount Carmel Hospital is a mental hospital located in central Malta. The hospital complex consists of a several one and two storey buildings, with the original section of the hospital built around the mid-19th Century, and extensted progressively incremented in the past 150 years.
Most of the original structural fabric consists of loadbearing masonry walls supporting steel and timber beams, with stone slabs spanning in between. More recent extensions typically consist of reinforced concrete floors spanning onto loadbearing masonry walls.
KonceptX was engaged by the hospital to carry out a visual structural survey of the existing reinforced concrete and steel ceilings of several buildings forming the hospital complex.
