UBH Toyen, Oslo, Norway

A 7-storey glasshouse structure housing Norway’s national botanical garden. The building is circular on plan and is formed by a geometrically complex cable net structure that is supported by sculpted steel frames. These frames are situated between the separation partitions delineating the different zones of the botanic garden. The dramatic clear height space created is over 25m high and 24m wide at top end, spiraling down to 5m high and 6m wide at lower end. Konrad directed the structural engineering design team whilst at Arup.
